My Writers Journey
I knew I was a creative soul by the time I was about 12 years old. It's about the same time I fell in love with reading, and playing video games. My reality was exfoliated on a daily basis by fantastical adventures on the screen and on the page.
A couple of years later, I realized I wanted to be a writer. I wanted to wield the magic of words and do unto others what my favorite authors had done unto me. I wanted to curate creativity and escape. I was 14 when I decided to take it upon myself to ensure I had the education I needed to further and better my craft. I decided to apply and transfer schools.
I attended the Chicago High School for the Arts, where I was able to major in Creative Writing at only 15 years old. I dedicated the three years I had left of my high school career to growing as a writer and storyteller. I was in school from 8am-5pm daily and then I went home to write more.
After high school, I continued my journey at Stephens College in Columbia, MO where I learned different types of storytelling and how to apply it to different media. When I was 19, I got my first piece of fiction writing published in an online journal,"The Acentos Review." Best of all, I found a love for trans-media storytelling. It took me (give or take) 8 years to realize the two things I loved could become one. While I loved writing stories, I also loved storytelling across for different types of media whether it be social media, blogs, websites, or emails. This only grew my passion.
I wrote for the award-winning, Stephens Life Magazine, had an additional six pieces of writing published across all genres, networked with a bounty of creatives, and best of all got the opportunity to fall in love with collaboration—all before I graduated college
Since then I've had the opportunity to use my writing abilities to learn more, grow, and thrive in my marketing roles since then.
I'm always looking to maximize learning opportunities in my professional roles. I prioritize creative space, community, and passion. I yearn to work with a team as passionate as I am about collaboration and the infinite possibilities of putting multiple creative souls together. Let's work together!
